Merrimack has been my home since 1983. My husband, John, and I met while students at UNH and married in 1982. We chose to settle in Merrimack because it was known as a community that valued education, it had a “hometown feel” to it and was close to our family, work, skilling, coastline and city attractions. We raised our three children here who attended Merrimack public schools, graduated from MHS, went on to college and are now on their own. During those years, in addition to careers in technical fields (John in radiopharmaceuticals and me in chemistry then in public affairs) we volunteered in the schools and community, my husband coached youth sports, and I served on the School Board and various boards of directors for state and local non-profit organizations. To say I have been invested in the well-being of Merrimack and NH would be an understatement!
I first ran for state representative in 2018 and was reelected in 2020, 2022, and 2024. I’ve served on the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee (clerk and deputy ranking member), House Municipal & County Government committee, and now am on House Finance (Division 1). During my previous two terms I was also an Assistant Floor Leader for the Democratic Caucus.
Areas of legislation that are my “wheelhouse” are environmental topics around PFAS, safe drinking water, and cyanobacteria, but I also champion legislation that constituents bring to me. In fact, that is my passion – to service the needs of my constituents. We may not always agree on policy positions, but I will always listen and learn from other points of view.
